Load Testing Should NOT be Like This
- Tags:
I've seen too many people ignore load testing until it was too late. Some don't test at all. Some treat it with a duct tape approach: Test a little here, test a little there, no planning, no consideration for what is a real-world traffic scenario, and sloppily thrown together at the last minute before going live in production.
That's why I get so many calls from web developers in a panic. They probably have a CTO or EVP of Marketing looking over their shoulder the night before a big site launch. Too bad they didn't give enough priority for testing the performance of the system.
The duct tape approach to load testing will make you look as irresponsible as the parents of this little girl. Plan for web performance testing and tuning early in your project. It's worth it because web performance tuning correlates directly to revenue.
